Remember my friend Mark Madique, the architect friend who refused to talk to me until I installed a proper drainage system? well he talks to me now.
You can, or at least I can, get really geeked up when it comes to drainage systems. It is really important to get drainage right with a Techbuilt since the primary split level design relies on placing a large portion of the living area below grade. We started with replacing the foundation drain, used the Styrofoam peanut sock system of linked pipes. The wall itself was painted with the black membrane stuff and then a wall drain matt was placed over that. We back filled with gravel and added in a layer of drain fabric in there as well. The foundation drain ran around the house then downhill to daylight. We probably overdid it a bit but who wants to see water on the floor of the living room?
